Supplied and installed by the people who will be maintaining it afterwards, which changes what gets recommended.

Buying from the people who will be maintaining it
We supply and install the equipment we service. That is not a small distinction: a contractor who never sees the machine again has no reason to care how it holds up in year six, and every reason to fit whatever is easiest this week.
Sizing is where most of the value sits. An oversized system in this climate short-cycles, never runs long enough to pull humidity out, and costs more to buy and more to run. Getting that right matters more than the badge on the front.

Should you repair the system you have, or replace it?
Three things decide it: how old the system is, how many times it has been repaired, and what the current fault costs to put right.
Under about ten years with a first failure, repair almost always wins. Past fifteen with a second or third repair, you are paying for a system twice. In between it is a judgement call, and the honest version of that call includes what the repair buys you: a fixed capacitor on a fifteen-year-old compressor buys you a season, not a decade.
The part worth being careful about is sizing. An oversized system costs more up front, more to run, and performs worse in this climate, because it satisfies the thermostat before it has run long enough to pull humidity out. Cold and clammy is the signature of a system someone sold too big.
We will tell you when repair beats replacement, including when that costs us the sale. That is easier to promise when we are the ones who will be servicing it afterwards.
Questions about buying a new system
Should I repair my system or replace it?
Age, repair history and the cost of the current fault, in that order. Under about ten years with a first failure, repair usually wins. Past fifteen with a second or third repair, you are paying twice. We will tell you when repair is the better buy, including when that costs us the sale.
Is a bigger system better?
No, and it is the most common expensive mistake in this climate. An oversized system satisfies the thermostat quickly and shuts off before it has run long enough to pull humidity out, so the house ends up cold and clammy. It also costs more to buy, more to run, and wears faster from short-cycling.
Which brand do you install?
Sizing and installation quality decide how a system performs far more than the badge on the front. Tell us the building and the budget and we will talk through what actually suits it.
Do you sell equipment without installing it?
Ask. It depends on the equipment and what is involved: talk to Trey about what you need.

What customers say about Southern Dreams Mechanical
Southern Dreams was phenomenal, professional and very thorough. I highly suggest anyone needing AC work, he is the guy. He isn’t going to sell you something you don’t need but will evaluate your system and get exactly what you need. He is pro active and will keep your system working.

Good communication and always on time. He did my AC in my house and was significantly cheaper then some of the other quotes I got.

Reviews usually are a dime a dozen but I will say this. This company is absolutely the best that I’ve encountered in a long time. Honesty, willingness, transparency, and accommodating. Trey, the owner was amazing, knowledgeable, and most of all real. So, if you are looking for an AC/heating guy that is reliable. Then this is the company for you
