Accessibility Statement

Southern Dreams Mechanical Services LLC (“Southern Dreams Mechanical Services”) wants southerndreams-mechanical.com to be usable by as many people as possible, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or voice control.

Standard We Aim For

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. We consider this website partially conformant: most of it meets that standard, some parts have not been verified, and third-party content is outside our direct control.

How This Was Assessed

This statement is based on our own review of the site, automated checks across every page template plus manual inspection, carried out during the build and repeated when templates change. It is a self-assessment. The site has not been audited by an independent third party, and it has not been tested by people who use assistive technology day to day. Those are the two things that would most improve on what is written here.

What We Have Checked

• Semantic HTML: real headings, lists, landmark regions and buttons rather than styled generic elements
• One first-level heading per page, with no skipped heading levels, verified across every page template
• A “skip to main content” link, so keyboard users can bypass the navigation that repeats on every page
• Keyboard access throughout, including the mobile menu, which uses the browser’s own dialog behaviour rather than custom scripting
• Visible focus outlines on links, buttons and form fields
• Body text and interface colours measured against their backgrounds to meet the 4.5:1 minimum for normal text
• Alternative text on images that carry meaning
• Form fields with real labels, and errors identified in text rather than by colour alone
• Accessible names on icon-only controls, and titles on embedded frames
• Layouts that reflow to narrow screens and to zoomed text without content being cut off
• Self-hosted fonts and no motion-triggered effects that cannot be dismissed

Known Limitations

• Embedded maps and video are supplied by third parties. We cannot change how they behave, and they may not meet WCAG 2.2 AA.
• Our forms are produced by a third-party plugin. We have checked labelling and keyboard use, but we do not control every detail of its markup.
• Any documents offered for download may not be fully tagged for screen readers.
• Content added over time may not always match the standard we apply to page templates.

Ongoing Work

Accessibility is treated as part of building and maintaining the site rather than a one-off exercise. Templates are re-checked when they change, and reported problems are fixed rather than queued.
